Before my son Jack was born, I decided to try cloth diapering. I liked the idea of saving money
and saving landfill space at the same time. I searched the Internet, asked around, and couldn't
find much information about it. So, my mother-in-law unpacked her 30+ year old diapers and
pins, someone gave me a couple of diaper covers, and I was in business. It lasted about five
months. My part time caregiver didn't want to mess with pins and covers, no one liked using
the pins, and the diaper covers leaked and wicked. As a full time working mom, I didn't have
the energy or time to mess with it anymore!
Fast forward three years. With another baby on the way, and with distant memories of my first
cloth diapering experience, I started searching again for ways to cloth diaper. Boy had things
changed! I was introduced to prefold diapers, snappis, pocket diapers, and AIO's (all- in-
ones). I bought some new covers and snappis to try with the diapers I had used before, and
then some pockets and AIO's. I was hooked! My husband, my family, even my babysitter will
use these diapers!
I became a walking advertisement for cloth diapers, and eventually decided I would open my
own diaper store to spread the word! I sold my sister on cloth, and she decided to go into
business with me- and Bloomin' Bottoms was born!
